The Construction Inspector Senior performs advanced-level inspection and monitoring of roadway, bridge, building, and utility construction projects to ensure safety, compliance, and quality. Oversees the testing of systems such as water pumping, electronic controls, and pressurized pipelines. Prepares detailed reports on project progress, quality, and cost estimates to support payment processes and contractor compliance. Serves as a technical lead and mentor to less experienced inspection staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitors construction of roads, bridges, drainage facilities, buildings, and underground utilities to verify adherence to project plans, schedules, and specifications. • Observes and reviews testing of water pumping systems, electronic controls, and pressurized pipe systems for accuracy and proper function. • Prepares daily and monthly reports detailing work performed, including progress, quality, and cost assessments, to support schedule compliance and initiate partial payments to contractors and vendors. • Applies and maintains a thorough understanding of City of Albuquerque Standards and Specifications, and New Mexico Department of Transportation Standards and Specifications. • Serves as the technical lead among the Inspector staff; provides mentorship and support to junior and less experienced inspectors. *The above information is intended to outline the general nature and scope of the duties required for this position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED. • Five (5) years of work experience in general construction, testing of roadways, earthworks, underground utilities, culverts, bridges and other public works facilities or a related field. *Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above requirements.

SCREENING AND COMPLIANCE

The offer of this Bernalillo County position requires compliance with the following: • Successful completion of a post-offer employment medical examination and background investigation. • Adherence to all County safety guidelines. • Complete all FEMA training(s) assigned to this position. • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver’s license by the date of hire and maintenance of a valid license while employed in this position. • Complete required supervisor training, if applicable. • Must maintain all required certification(s).

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Duties are performed primarily outdoors which entails exposure to extremes of weather conditions. • Indoor duties are performed in a temperature-controlled environment on an even carpeted or tiled surface. • Outdoor duties may be performed on both even and uneven surfaces which may be either wet or dry. Surfaces may be inclined or flat, and range from natural undisturbed soil to gravel, asphalt, or concrete. • May perform duties alone or as part of a group. • Work hazards or potential work hazards include exposure to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, mist, chemicals and severe weather conditions; driving of vehicles; working in and around heavy equipment; and performing duties on rough terrain.

EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, AND MATERIALS

• Equipment typically used in the performance of duties includes telephone, two-way radio, computer, printer, and copy machine. • County vehicles are used by employee in traveling from site-to-site throughout the County. • Safety vests and hardhats are used by worker in performance of outdoor duties.
