Under minimal direction, schedule, supervise and perform maintenance and repair of all existing low voltage systems at Bernalillo County facilities.  Also perform project management on all assigned special low voltage projects including installation and maintenance of new alarm systems, cameras, fire alerting systems, automatic gates, fire suppression systems, and access systems for County maintained buildings and property.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Oversee and coordinate the repair or replacement of various low voltage related systems. Evaluate maintenance requests plus troubleshoot and diagnose problems. Estimate time and materials required to complete jobs. 2. Schedule and plan work orders, assign technicians to jobs and maintain accurate logs of work performed. Instruct and train staff on daily operations, repair or replacement of low voltage systems ensuring that all work is completed in compliance with current codes, manufacturer’s instructions, safety standards and industry practices. 3. Identify and plan work to be performed by outside contractors. Obtain cost estimates and follow established procurement procedures. Provide technical assistance in new construction design. 4. Establish preventative maintenance schedules according to manufacturer’s recommendations. Ensure necessary work is performed based on reports and alarms to restore systems to normal operations. Responsible for daily adjustments and equipment start and stop times. 5. Provide technical direction and on-the-job training to low voltage technicians. 6. Install cameras, key card access, intrusion and fire alarm components, and automatic gate controls. Troubleshoot and diagnose low voltage faults building systems. 7. Maintain various reports, monitor budget/expenditures and ensure accurate timekeeping. 8. Respond to emergencies and take corrective action to ensure systems are in operation. 9. Conduct performance appraisals, recommend new hires and advise management of disciplinary concerns. 10. Serve as the on-call supervisor on a rotating basis, and address after hour callouts and emergencies for the Building Maintenance Program. 11.
