The Crossing Guard works at assigned intersections to ensure the safety and protection of children crossing roads on the way to school. Stop on-coming traffic and escort children across street. Places and removes school crossing and reduced speed signs at assigned intersection before and after shift.

- Must be at least 18 years of age.

PREFERENCES
- High School Diploma or GED, is preferred.
- Work experience in security, safety or law enforcement is preferred.
The offer of this Bernalillo County position requires compliance with the following:
- Successful completion of a post-offer employment medical examination and background investigation.
- Adherence to all County safety guidelines.
- Complete all FEMA training(s) assigned to this position.
- Possession of a valid New Mexico driver’s license by the date of hire and maintenance of a valid license while employed in this position.
- Complete required supervisor training, if applicable.
- Must have means of transportation to assigned work site.
- Must pass an oral board examination.
- Duties are performed outdoors.
- Worker is exposed to natural weather conditions. Working in adverse weather conditions is required.
- Worker is exposed to intermittent noise from traffic.
- Worker is exposed to exhaust fumes.
- Work is performed on paved or dirt roads, concrete, natural ground, ice or snow. Surfaces may be wet or dry. Work surfaces may be even or inclined.
- Work hazards include vehicle traffic and exposure to fumes.
- Equipment typically used in the performance of duties includes traffic control signs, safety vest and whistle.

Employees in these federally regulated positions must comply with all DOT testing procedures, including enrollment in a DOT-compliant random testing pool.
